Fine Gael T.D. Hildegarde Naughton has welcomed the news that Galway schools are to benefit from upgrades to electrical and gas works under the Governments School Summer Works Scheme. Commenting, Deputy Hildegarde Naughton said;
“Funding of €30 million will see major improvements in 197 primary and post primary schools around the country under the Summer Works Scheme for 2016 and 2017.
This scheme is designed to minimise disruption to students and teachers by the carrying out of works during the summer holiday period.
I am very conscious of the work that needs to be done in Galway to upgrade both gas and electricity supply to our schools. It is absolutely imperative that our children, and their teachers, are able to carry out their day in the optimum circumstances. Students must be able to learn and teachers to teach.
In that light I am delighted to note that the following schools in County Galway will benefit from this year’s scheme.
|Galway||Primary||S N An Leath Bhaile||Tuaim|
|Galway||Primary||S N Padraic Naofa||Sraid Lombard|
|Galway||Primary||Sn N Breandain||Eanach Dhuin|
|Galway||Primary||S N Cillinin||Cilinin|
|Galway||Primary||Kilchreest Central Sch||Kilchreest|
|Galway||Primary||Sn Seamus Naofa||Bearna|
|Galway||Primary||Sn Mhic Dara||An Ceathru Rua|
|Galway||Primary||Scoil Bhrige Agus Bhreandain Naofa||Corrandulla|
|Galway||Post Primary||Presentation College||Currylea|
|Galway||Post Primary||St Brigids College||Loughrea|
|Galway||Post Primary||Gairm Scoil Chilleáin Naofa||New Inn , Ballinasloe|
Not only will this scheme benefit those utilising our school facilities, but it will also be of benefit to the local economy. As a teacher myself I am fully aware of the need to fully realise the potential of our children. To do that each child must have the optimum learning environment. This scheme is a valuable tool in ensuring that that level of learning is achieved.”
