I was delighted to recently secure substantial Sports Capital Funding for two Oranmore projects. Galway Bay Sailing Club, (pictured right) received a grant of €42,000. The club is the largest sailing club in County Galway with over 200 members. GBSC built its club house in 1978 in Rinville Oranmore, Co.Galway. Since then GBSC has promoted and facilitated sailing on Galway Bay for its many members over the years and has hosted many international sailing events.

I was also delighted to be able to deliver €47,000 for Oranmore Park Committee. This funding will go towards the refurbishment of the Oranmore Community Centre and will assist in much needed work on the roof, heating and electrical systems. The upgrade of the facilities has been hugely beneficial to the Oranmore area and the committee hopes to continue to build on the success afforded by these improvements through continued promotion and encouragement of young people’s involvement in sport.

On October the 8th the Government announced the latest round of Sports Capital Grants. I am delighted to say that Galway received an allocation of €2,230,045. Among those in receipt of funding are;
